Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the BMM94 swing in more than one direction?
Yes. The exact manual allows the seat tube to be released and rotated to select side-to-side or front-to-back powered motion. These are alternative directions, not simultaneous movements. The same manual lists six swing speeds and a 25 lb maximum, with an earlier stop if the child tries to climb out.

The BMM94 has two documented swing-power arrangements: Mattel includes an AC adapter for a wall outlet, or the swing can use four D (LR20) alkaline batteries. The cells are not included. Use the recommended model-matched adapter only; no alternate adapter compatibility is established.

Mattel lists use from birth, but its manual requires full recline until the child is at least four months old and can hold the head up without help; use the restraint and stop sooner if an active child tries to climb out. The maximum is 25 lb, and no minimum weight is listed. Only the removed pad is machine-washed: cold water, mild detergent, no bleach, low tumble-dry and prompt removal.
Explore this need in the finder →Fisher-Price’s My Little Snugabug Cradle ’n Swing is an earlier powered infant swing identified by the manufacturer code BMM94. Mattel’s U.S. support page reports a 2014 release and links two BMM94 instruction editions. The record supports a fairly specific mix: choose side-to-side or front-to-back swing travel, power the motor from the included AC adapter or four D cells, and use local controls for six speeds, music and sounds. It does not establish a current retail offer, a retail SKU, or the contents or condition of any particular secondhand package.
Two directions, selected one at a time
The manual explains how to press the seat-tube button and rotate the seat to choose a side-to-side cradle motion or a front-to-back swing. That is useful if either of those documented directions matters; it is not evidence that both motions occur simultaneously. Mattel also lists three seat-facing positions and two recline positions. The two controls do different jobs: seat orientation selects the travel direction, while the recline buttons change the backrest angle. Do not treat the three facing positions as three swing axes.
Outlet power or four D cells
The English/Spanish and English/French manuals both list an included adapter and an alternative four-D-cell battery setup. The adapter is specified for 120–240 VAC input and 6 VDC output; the alkaline D cells are not included. The exact manual says to use the recommended adapter in a wall outlet and not an extension cord. For an earlier offer, check that the original adapter is present and that its label matches the manual; if it is missing or damaged, do not guess at a substitute. Batteries provide a separate documented power arrangement, not a way to bypass the swing’s safety or care instructions.
Local settings, sounds and automatic stops
The manufacturer lists six swing speeds, 16 songs, nature sounds, a motorized mobile with a mirrored globe, and a take-along teether. The manual shows controls on the frame for swing power and speed, music, sounds, mobile and volume. It says the swing stops after about four hours, while mobile, music or sounds stop after about 20 minutes; a button restarts those features. Mattel describes weight-sensing Smart Swing technology, but does not provide a response curve or independent performance result. I therefore treat these as documented features, not a promise about noise, soothing, or how a particular baby will respond.
Newborn language has important conditions
Mattel lists use from birth, but the manual says to keep the seat fully reclined until the child is at least four months old and can hold the head up without help. Both conditions apply. The manual requires the restraint and sets a 25 lb maximum, with an earlier stop if an active child tries to climb out. It does not state a minimum child weight. From-birth labeling is not an individual fit assessment, and the weight ceiling is not a target duration. The updated Mattel warning says to stay nearby and watch the baby: this swing is not for sleep or unsupervised use. If a baby falls asleep, move them to a firm, flat sleep surface.
What folds, and what is not measured
The support description says the legs fold for storage and room-to-room portability. Neither reviewed manual provides assembled width, depth, height, a complete folded envelope or a movement-clearance figure. Do not substitute the storage description for a room-fit measurement. Measure the exact assembled unit, leave space for the seat’s sweep in the chosen direction, and check access around the frame and cord route. A product photo cannot establish those dimensions or confirm which parts are included with a used swing.
Care and the earlier-model checks
The BMM94 instructions say to remove the pad from the restraint system and machine-wash the pad in cold water with mild detergent, without bleach; tumble-dry it on low and remove it promptly. The seat, restraint, mobile and motorized frame are cleaned separately with a mild cleaner and damp cloth, then rinsed. This is not a claim that the whole swing or every accessory is machine washable. Before considering an older unit, verify the model number on its own label, inspect the frame and fasteners, confirm that the harness and manual match, and check current official safety notices against the exact model. Mattel’s support image is an identification view only; the manual cautions that features and decorations can vary from photographs.
How it compares with a related earlier swing
Mattel’s Nature’s Touch Baby Papasan M5584 also has seat-selected side-to-side or front-to-back motion and a 25 lb ceiling. Its reviewed record documents four D cells but no AC-adapter arrangement; BMM94’s exact manual does list the included adapter alongside four D cells. That is a specific power difference, not proof that adapters or other parts interchange. Compare the model codes and each unit’s manual rather than shopping by the shared cradle-swing shape or similar feature names.
On paper, BMM94 is worth considering only when the exact model and complete, safe-to-use configuration can be verified and the selectable direction, dual power options or washable pad are useful. It is a poor fit when documented dimensions, a current manufacturer offer, app control, or verified condition is essential. This review is based on manufacturer records and instructions; it does not report hands-on use, testing, comfort, a particular baby’s experience, current price or stock.
