Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
What is the difference between the swing and rocker modes?
The frame-mounted swing uses the included AC adapter for powered motion and is listed through 25 lb / 30 in. The seat can detach as a manual rocker, which has an 18 lb / 27 in maximum and must stop when the baby tries to sit up or reaches 18 lb, whichever comes first. Do not apply the swing's larger limit to rocker mode.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the swing run on batteries without an outlet?
The manual specifies the supplied wall adapter for the swing motor. A single D-cell battery operates the seat's two-speed vibration module; the battery does not power the swing motion. This is not a documented battery-operated swing.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the rocker portable with a baby in it?
No. The rocker seat detaches from the swing frame, but Graco says never to carry or transport a child in it. Use it on the floor only, with the restraint and adult supervision; it is not for sleep.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I machine-wash the Soothe My Way seat?
The reviewed page and manual direct owners to the care tag for seat-cover washing instructions and warn against bleach. They do not establish machine washing for every Madden seat textile, so check the actual fabric label rather than assume it is washable by machine.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a 5.5 lb minimum mean this is approved from birth?
Graco lists a 5.5 lb lower weight in both modes, but the inspected sources do not state an age-based 'from birth' approval. The manual says to keep the swing fully reclined until an infant is at least four months old and can hold their head up without help. Follow the exact manual and mode limits.

This document-based review covers the U.S. Graco Soothe My Way Swing with Removable Rocker, Madden, model 2137842. Graco’s product page links to the 2022 Soothe My Way manual; the exact product page identifies the Madden color and model number. The manufacturer page was still present when checked on October 29, 2026, but its purchase panel asked visitors to request a back-in-stock notice. That is not a live-stock claim. I have not handled or tested this swing; the assessment draws on the listed product information and its instructions.
One seat, two operating arrangements
The frame-mounted swing is the powered mode. Graco lists eight motion patterns in two directions, six speed settings and three reclines. The seat can face front, left or right. Its listed audio includes ten melodies and five nature sounds, while the seat module has two vibration settings. The swing uses the supplied AC adapter. The manual specifies a single D-cell battery for vibration; that does not make the motorized swing battery-operated. No phone-app or voice control is documented for this model.
The same seat detaches and rests on its rocker legs, so the product offers a separate, manually moving rocker configuration. This may be useful when a caregiver wants the seat away from the swing frame, but it is not a second powered swing and the seat is not a carrier. The manual says never to carry the rocker with a child in it. The several patterns and settings are a choice of controls, not proof that one motion soothes every baby or that the swing was tested for effectiveness here.
Use limits belong to the selected mode
Graco’s product page lists a 5.5–25 lb range for swing use and 5.5–18 lb for rocker use. The manual adds stop conditions: discontinue the swing when the infant tries to climb out or reaches 25 lb, with approximately nine months given as an age reference; its maximum recommended height is 30 inches. For the detached rocker, stop when the baby starts trying to sit up or reaches 18 lb, whichever comes first, and observe the 27-inch maximum recommended height. These limits are not interchangeable: the swing’s 25 lb ceiling does not carry over to rocker mode.
For a young infant, the manual requires the swing seat to remain fully reclined until the baby is at least four months old and can hold their head up without help. Use the restraint snugly, stay nearby and supervise continuously, and use the product on the floor. Neither mode is for sleep or unsupervised use. If an infant falls asleep, move them promptly to a firm, flat sleep surface. The rocker can slide with a child’s movement, so Graco says not to use it on a bed, sofa or other soft or elevated surface.
Space, setup and everyday ownership
The listed product body is 26 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 35 inches high, with a listed weight of 22.5 lb. Those are the manufacturer’s body dimensions, not the extra clearance needed while motion is running. The seat detaches from the swing base, but the source materials reviewed do not establish that the assembled frame folds or that the whole unit is portable. Treat those as unknowns rather than assuming the removable rocker makes the base compact. The manual calls for adult assembly and shows the seat, rocker legs, motor tower, frame tubes and toy bar as separate pieces to attach.
Care is less specific than a blanket “machine-washable” label. Graco says to remove soft goods and follow the washing instructions on the care tag; it warns against bleach. Clean the frame with household soap and warm water, without bleach or detergent, and check from time to time for loose screws, worn parts or torn fabric. If considering an open-box or second-hand set, compare the included body support, toy bar and toys, adapter, screws and frame pieces with the manual’s parts list. Do not substitute an unapproved adapter or accessory.
Who may prefer it—and who may not
This configuration is a reasonable one to examine if an outlet-side floor location is available and the useful distinction is a mains-powered swing that can also become a detached manual rocker. It combines several motion choices with a separate no-motor seat arrangement, but that feature count comes with a fairly substantial 26-by-28-inch body and two different child-use limits to track. It is a poor match for someone who needs the swing motor itself to run on batteries, remote/app control, a confirmed machine-washable textile, or a compact folding base.
Compared with the reviewed manual UPPAbaby Mira 1801 bouncer, the Graco adds powered swing movement but does not provide that Mira’s separate 29 lb toddler-chair stage. The Mira’s chair limit applies only to a child-ready chair arrangement; it is not a higher infant capacity. Compare the setup that the child will actually use rather than treating each product’s largest number as equivalent.
Checks before choosing an offer
Match the label to Madden model 2137842 and keep the corresponding instructions. Confirm that the specific package has the AC adapter and all parts needed to assemble the frame; verify the care-tag instructions for its actual seat fabric. The manufacturer page’s back-in-stock prompt means current availability must be checked directly rather than assumed from an online catalog entry. For a used unit, inspect its model and manufacture-date label, check current CPSC and Graco safety notices, and reject damaged or incomplete parts. A targeted CPSC search did not surface a model-2137842 recall record, but that is not a clearance of an individual unit.
