Fisher-Price W9493: swing and seat limits

The Discover 'N Grow W9493 is an earlier model with a powered swing arrangement and a separate stationary vibrating-seat arrangement. This page explains how the actual support evidence maps to the published finder choices. It does not claim the model is currently offered, ready for a particular baby, or compatible with an individual used unit. Each finder link retains only the stated questionnaire conditions; the results page and full review still require an exact label/manual check.

Including this earlier model

The exact Mattel support page identifies W9493 as Discover 'N Grow Swing & Seat and reports a 2012 release; it does not report a discontinuation year or current offer. Choosing the earlier-model option makes this exact review part of the assessed comparison, not proof a seller has stock.

The W9493 appears in the full earlier-model comparison because its exact U.S. support identity, linked 16-page manual, separate mode limits and model-mapped image are recorded. Read the W9493 review; compare the exact J6978 and V1179 reviews for other earlier support models. C4636 is another distinct earlier swing: Mattel lists it for use from birth and four C batteries, while the linked family sheet sets a 25 lb ceiling; no numerical minimum or current offer is established. J1569 is separately identified by Mattel and its page-linked H0794/H3673/J1569 sheet; that earlier swing uses four C cells, has five local speeds and a 25 lb maximum, but no stated minimum weight or current offer. The exact J1569 record does not establish body dimensions or a particular used unit's completeness. Open the finder with earlier models included.

Battery-powered swing with controls on the seat

Mattel's W9493 manual documents five powered swing speeds, local controls and four C/LR14 cells for swing and sounds. An adult pushes the seat to start. The swing's travel axis is not named, so speed settings do not establish multi-axis motion.

With powered swing, battery operation and on-unit controls required together, W9493 is a genuine match through its four-C-cell swing plan; its separate D cell powers vibration only after conversion to a stationary seat. Compare its exact modes and batteries, and open the finder with those three conditions plus earlier models included.

Machine-washable pad, not a washable frame

The linked W9493pr-0821 manual allows removal of the pad for a separate cold, gentle machine wash; it says no bleach and a separate low-heat tumble dry. The frame and toy bar are wiped with a mild solution and damp cloth. This is not a claim that the full seat or battery housings are machine-washable.

W9493 meets the machine-washable-textiles requirement because its exact manual names a removable washable pad, while keeping the frame-care method separate. See the W9493 care steps, or find every reviewed washable-textile model with earlier models included.

What the 25 lb number means

The W9493 manual's single 25 lb ceiling applies to this product, but the mode-specific stop can arrive first: stop swinging if the child becomes active and can climb out, and stop infant-seat mode when the child can sit up unassisted as Mattel's support page instructs. The ceiling is not a newborn or duration recommendation.

The 25 lb limit is evidenced by the W9493 manual, but neither its support page nor its instructions state a numerical minimum child weight or explicit from-birth claim. The finder compares only the requested minimum listed maximum; follow the correct mode's earlier stop rule.

C1384 at a 25 lb threshold

At a 25 lb minimum-capacity threshold, C1384 remains in the earlier-inclusive shortlist because its exact swing manual lists a 25 lb maximum; stop earlier if the child becomes active and appears able to climb out.

One pound above C1384’s stated ceiling

At a 26 lb minimum-capacity threshold, C1384 drops out because its only documented swing plan is capped at 25 lb; this is not a developmental-use recommendation.

Review the exact C1384 limit · Keep the same earlier-model scope and compare at 26 lb.

At a 25 lb minimum

At a 25 lb minimum, W9493 stays in the exact earlier battery-swing shortlist when powered motion and on-unit controls are also required; the 25 lb value is its manual-listed maximum, not a readiness signal.

Review the mode-specific W9493 limit, or open the finder at 25 lb with the same movement, battery, control and earlier-model choices.

At a 26 lb minimum

At a 26 lb minimum, W9493, C4636 and C1384 drop out: their exact manuals cap the relevant swing plans at 25 lb. The same powered-swing, battery, local-control and earlier-model conditions leave the two reviewed Graco swing models with documented 30 lb swing plans.

Compare DuetConnect LX and DuetSoothe; their swing ceilings do not transfer to their separate bouncer/rocker modes. C4636's family-manual 25 lb cap and C1384's C1384pr-0720 cap likewise fall short at 26 lb; J1569 is also excluded because its exact page-linked sheet lists a 25 lb maximum. Open the finder at 26 lb with the other choices held constant.

Keep swing power separate from seat vibration

When earlier models are allowed and battery power, powered swinging and local controls are all essential, W9493 matches through one supported plan: four C cells operate swing and sound. The one-D-cell vibration circuit belongs to its stationary seat mode and does not add a swing axis or replace the C cells.

Among the earlier examples are J6978 and V1179; W9493 has its own two battery arrangements; C4636 is a separate four-C-cell earlier swing with local controls, a five-speed switch and a 25 lb family-manual ceiling. Mattel lists C4636 from birth, but no numeric minimum, travel axis or adapter arrangement is established. J1569 is another separately documented four-C-cell, five-speed swing; its linked sheet names J1569 and gives a 25 lb maximum, without stating a travel axis or outlet arrangement. Four C cells, local swing controls and an earlier lifecycle are the same-condition fit here; other variants' adapter details are not transferred. Return to the finder with the same four conditions.

Capacity and power must coexist in one swing plan

For an earlier battery swing with local controls and at least 25 lb listed capacity, W9493's four-C-cell swing plan meets the request at its 25 lb ceiling. The D-cell seat-vibration plan is a separate arrangement, and neither plan is evidence of newborn use.

Compare CDJ49, X2535, G3048 and V1179; check W9493's exact swing and seat stop conditions; C4636 also meets this same 25 lb minimum via its four-C-cell swing plan and local control, with no stated numerical minimum infant weight. J1569 also meets a 25 lb minimum through its exact four-C-cell, five-speed swing plan; the J1569-linked family instructions cap it at 25 lb and its active/climb-out stop can apply sooner. No minimum infant weight, body dimensions or current offer is established. View the complete finder set for those same operating-plan requirements.

For any used W9493, verify the actual model label and fitted restraint, inspect the seat post/latch and battery housings, account for the separate battery requirements, and check current recall notices. The exact support page currently says replacement parts are not available. Mattel's product image and this comparison do not certify a particular unit's completeness, condition or safety.
