Earlier-model field guide

CDJ49 swing power, posture and capacity choices

Fisher-Price’s Starlight Cradle ‘n Swing CDJ49 is a useful case for separating a documented operating feature from a claim about the exact unit someone might find secondhand. Mattel’s support page reports a 2014 release, one linked CDJ49 instruction sheet and a 25 lb maximum; it does not identify a current retail SKU or present offer. The sections below keep the visible finder choices exact, while the model assessment covers the full manual, its safety limits and unresolved package details.

Including earlier models does not mean they are currently sold

CDJ49 belongs in the earlier-model scope: Mattel’s exact U.S. support page identifies a 2014 Starlight Cradle ‘n Swing, but leaves its Discontinued field blank and does not establish a current offer. “Yes” includes the reviewed earlier-model set rather than certifying any listing, used package or unit condition. X2535 is a distinct earlier model: Mattel’s exact U.S. support page lists a 2011 release and 2013 discontinuation, and its directly linked X2535 manual documents two selectable swing directions with alternate AC-adapter or four-D-cell power; no current offer is established. G3048 is another distinct earlier model: Mattel reports a 2004 release and 2006 discontinuation; its G3048pr-0720 manual specifies four C cells, eight on-unit settings, a light push to start and a 25 lb maximum. M7590 is another distinct earlier model: Mattel reports a 2008 release and 2010 discontinuation; its M7590pr-0720 manual supports AC-adapter and four-D-cell operation but gives no numerical child-weight ceiling or body dimensions. Read the CDJ49 model assessment · Review X2535’s separate earlier-model identity and power/motion plans · Review G3048’s exact battery, control and limit record · Review M7590’s separate power, use-limit and dimensions evidence · Compare other individually reviewed earlier models · Find with the same earlier-model choice.

From-birth support and machine washing are not a complete fit check

CDJ49 matches the documented from-birth and machine-washable-textile filters, but the manual requires full recline until both four months of age and independent head control. Its 25 lb ceiling and active/climb-out stop are separate; the exact record gives no minimum infant weight. X2535 also meets those broad filters on its own source record: Mattel labels it for use from birth, while its X2535 manual gives pad-only cold-wash instructions and says not to use upright before independent head control; it does not state CDJ49’s four-month full-recline rule. G3048 also matches the same broad choices: Mattel lists use from birth, and its G3048pr-0720 sheet permits washing only the removed pad; no minimum weight or separate newborn insert is documented. M7590 also meets these earlier-model filters: Mattel lists use from birth and its M7590pr-0720 manual permits washing the pad and toys separately, but neither source gives a numerical weight limit or an individual newborn-fit assessment. Review CDJ49’s posture and wash directions · Review X2535’s separate posture and pad-care rules · Review G3048’s birth-use wording and pad-only care · Review M7590’s from-birth label, separate washable pieces and unknown weight ceiling · Find with the same washable-textile, newborn-support and earlier-model choices.

Outlet and battery requirements describe separate arrangements

The CDJ49 qualifies for a powered-swing, wall-outlet, on-unit-control request as an earlier model; its documented 6 V DC adapter plan is not evidence of current package contents. The manual specifies 120–240 V AC input and a model-linked 6 V DC output; verify the exact adapter on a used unit. X2535 is another exact earlier-model outlet match: its X2535 manual supports the original 6 V adapter plan and on-unit speed controls; verify an individual used adapter instead of assuming the originally included part is present. M7590 is an exact earlier outlet match because its M7590pr-0720 sheet documents a 6 V adapter as part of the original product and on-unit swing controls; that does not prove an adapter accompanies a used offer. G3048 does not meet the outlet condition: its exact instructions call for four C cells and do not establish an AC-adapter plan. C1384 is not included in outlet matches because C1384pr-0720 documents four C batteries and does not establish an outlet-adapter plan. Review C1384’s documented battery-only power plan · Check CDJ49’s adapter and controls · Check X2535’s adapter and local controls · Check M7590’s separate adapter and battery arrangements · Check G3048’s exact battery-only setup · Find the same powered-swing, outlet, local-control and earlier-model combination. V1179 adds its adapter-powered swing plan with on-unit controls; the documented adapter is not evidence of package contents in a used offer.

CDJ49 also qualifies for the battery version of that request; its manual requires four D/LR20 alkaline cells, not included, while the adapter plan remains separate. The two sources do not establish battery runtime or replacement-adapter compatibility. X2535 also qualifies through its separate four-D/LR20 battery plan; the original adapter is an alternative, not part of that battery arrangement. G3048 qualifies through a separate four-C-cell battery plan with eight settings on the unit and no documented adapter alternative; do not infer runtime or current package contents. M7590 also qualifies through a distinct four-D-cell swing plan and local speed/music controls; its outlet adapter is a separate alternative, and no current used package or battery runtime is established. 25 lb is the manual’s limit, not a reason to continue use

At a 25 lb threshold, CDJ49’s four-D-cell swing plan meets the same powered-swing, on-unit-control, from-birth and washable-pad conditions. The ceiling does not override the full-recline posture requirement or the earlier stop if an active child attempts to climb out. X2535 also meets this fixed 25 lb battery/newborn/wash request through its own four-D-cell plan; the manual caps it at 25 lb and allows upright use only after independent head control. G3048 meets the same filters through its four-C-cell, on-unit swing: Mattel lists use from birth, its pad is machine-washable, and the manual sets a 25 lb maximum. J1569 also qualifies at this exact 25 lb battery/newborn/wash threshold through its separately documented four-C-cell swing, five local speed settings, from-birth label and washable pad; its own linked sheet caps it at 25 lb and no minimum infant weight is established. No minimum weight or separate newborn insert is documented for G3048, and the active/climb-out stop still governs. V1179 also meets the 25 lb battery-swing combination on its separate four-D-cell plan, local controls, from-birth listing and washable pad; consult the exact restraint-edition instructions. C4636 also meets this same 25 lb condition through its four-C-cell swing, local controls, from-birth listing and removable washable pad; no numerical minimum is stated.

At 26 lb, the reviewed library has no match for this fixed earlier powered-swing, battery, local-control, from-birth and washable-pad combination; CDJ49’s manual caps the swing at 25 lb. X2535’s exact manual sets the same 25 lb swing ceiling, so it also fails this higher threshold. C1384 and G3048 are also excluded for their separate manuals’ 25 lb swing ceilings; neither supports a higher swing limit. J1569 is also excluded by its directly linked sheet's 25 lb maximum. This is a capability result for the reviewed set, not a claim that no other product exists. CDJ49 joins the earlier multi-axis, outlet-powered, local-control, washable and newborn-support set at 25 lb: its exact manual caps the swing at that threshold and supports two selectable directions. The full-recline, head-control and climb-out rules still apply. X2535 also meets this 25 lb outlet/multi-axis request: its own manual caps the swing at 25 lb and tells an adult to select one of its two directions by rotating the seat tube. Review CDJ49’s selectable direction and 25 lb ceiling · Review X2535’s separate directions and 25 lb ceiling · Find the same multi-axis, outlet, local-control, newborn, care and 25 lb choices. V1179 also meets this 25 lb multi-axis/outlet result through one-at-a-time caregiver-selected directions and its adapter-powered swing plan.

At 26 lb, this exact earlier multi-axis, outlet-powered combination has no reviewed match; CDJ49’s documented swing maximum is 25 lb, not 26 lb. X2535 also fails at 26 lb because its own swing limit is 25 lb. No higher-capacity manual rocker or other mode can be transferred to either swing plan. Keep every other choice fixed and compare at 26 lb.

For a battery-powered swing with local controls and earlier models included, CDJ49 meets a 25 lb minimum-capacity screen through its four-D-cell plan. Its 25 lb value is an upper limit, not proof that a particular child is ready to use the swing. X2535 also meets this 25 lb battery/capacity screen through its distinct four-D-cell plan and has the same maximum; its active/climb-out stop can apply sooner. G3048 qualifies through a separate four-C-cell battery plan and its exact 25 lb ceiling; Mattel’s from-birth wording is not a minimum-weight statement. Review the 25 lb model limit · Review X2535’s separate 25 lb battery-plan limit · Review G3048’s four-C-cell plan and exact capacity · Find under the same swing, battery, controls, 25 lb and earlier-model choices. V1179 also meets this 25 lb powered battery-swing screen using four D cells and on-unit controls; the manual-specific posture and earlier stop remain controlling.

At 26 lb, CDJ49 is excluded because its exact swing maximum is 25 lb; X2535 is excluded by its own manual’s 25 lb swing maximum as well. G3048 also fails this 26 lb minimum because its exact manual sets a 25 lb swing ceiling. The same finder answers still return the distinct Graco DuetConnect LX and DuetSooth battery-swing plans. Their limits belong to their own manuals, not to any Fisher-Price swing. J6978: a separate four-D-cell Papasan swing with a 20 lb ceiling

J6978 is an earlier U.S. swing in its own right: Mattel reports a 2006 release and 2008 discontinuation, and the exact J6978d-0728 sheet supports four D cells, adult-selected front-to-back or side-to-side motion, and a 20 lb maximum. That is separate from other Papasan model numbers, not a transfer of their capacities or adapters; the 20 lb figure is an upper limit, not a fit or readiness test. Review J6978’s exact identity, use stops and missing-current-offer limits · Find with the same earlier-model choice.
V1179 is another individually reviewed earlier U.S. swing: Mattel lists its 2010 release and links three separately identified instruction editions. Each documents two caregiver-selected swing directions and a 25 lb swing maximum; the 3-point and 5-point sheets differ in posture wording, and no current offer or used-unit condition is established. Read the V1179 review.

J6978 fits a broad earlier-model request combining documented use from birth and washable seat textiles: its exact support page says from birth, and its manual permits machine washing only the removed pad and toys. The same manual caps the swing at 20 lb and warns against use once a child can sit up independently (about six months); no numerical minimum weight or individual newborn fit is established. Stop sooner if a child becomes active and appears able to climb out. Check J6978’s distinct newborn wording, 20 lb maximum and component care · Find with the same washable-textile, newborn-support and earlier-model choices. V1179 also fits this exact earlier / from-birth / machine-washable-pad request through its own listed evidence; follow the instructions supplied for its specific restraint edition. C4636 also fits this broad earlier/from-birth/washable-pad screen on its separate four-C-cell record; the family manual sets a 25 lb ceiling and no numerical minimum weight. J1569 separately matches the earlier/from-birth/washable-pad answers: Mattel's exact page gives the from-birth label, and its directly linked family sheet supports machine-washing only the removed pad and sets a 25 lb maximum. No minimum infant weight or separate insert is documented for J1569.

J6978 meets the earlier powered-swing, battery and on-unit-control combination through a single four-D-cell plan. The exact manual says the D cells are not included and lets an adult choose one swing direction by rotating the seat tube; the reviewed J6978 sources do not document a mains adapter, minimum weight or a battery-runtime estimate. Review J6978’s four-D-cell plan and locally selected directions · Find the same powered-swing, battery, local-control and earlier-model combination. V1179 adds a separate four-D-cell, on-unit-controlled swing plan; its alternative adapter plan is not combined with battery operation.

The J6978 manual’s 20 lb maximum creates a real threshold: a 20 lb minimum-capacity request can include this exact swing, but a 21 lb request cannot. It is a maximum, not a minimum-weight or infant-readiness statement; independent sitting and activity/climb-out can end use sooner. Review J6978’s manual-backed 20 lb ceiling · Find with the same 20 lb capacity and earlier-model choices.

With powered swing, battery operation, local controls, from-birth support, washable textiles and earlier models held fixed, J6978 meets a 20 lb minimum-capacity screen through its own four-D-cell plan. The sheet sets a 20 lb maximum, so this does not establish a minimum weight or permit use past earlier posture/activity stops. Read J6978’s 20 lb boundary and earlier stops · Find under the same swing, battery, controls, newborn, care, 20 lb and earlier-model choices. V1179 also meets this 20 lb threshold through its four-D-cell swing plan, with the plan-specific 25 lb upper limit and separate posture rules. C4636 also meets this lower threshold through a separate four-C-cell swing plan with a 25 lb cap; its source gives no numerical minimum weight.

Raising only that combined minimum-capacity request to 21 lb removes J6978: the exact manual stops at 20 lb. CDJ49 remains a distinct reviewed battery-swing match at 21 lb under these selected filters; its own 25 lb maximum and posture rules do not transfer to J6978. A listed maximum still does not confirm an individual child’s fit. Check why J6978 misses the 21 lb threshold · Compare CDJ49’s separate 25 lb battery plan · Keep every other choice and compare at 21 lb. V1179 also remains in the 21 lb result through its independently documented four-D-cell swing plan and 25 lb maximum. C4636 also remains at 21 lb through its own four-C-cell swing with a 25 lb ceiling; no minimum weight or exact-unit condition is established.
